Installation & Setup

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on clean, flat surface.

  1. Insert batteries: Open battery compartment, insert 6 AA batteries (optional, not included).
  2. Connect AC adapter: Plug adapter into power port and wall outlet (recommended for extended use).
  3. Load tape: Open tape compartment, insert cassette with tape facing out, close firmly.
  4. Power on: Press POWER button; LCD will illuminate.

WARNING! Use only Brother-approved tapes and power adapter. Do not force tape cassette.

First-Time Use

Power on device; follow on-screen prompts on LCD.

  1. Set language: Press SETTINGS, select LANGUAGE, choose ENGLISH (default).
  2. Set tape width: Device auto-detects; confirm in display.
  3. Test print: Type sample text, press PRINT to ensure proper operation.

Creating Labels

Basic label creation in 5 steps.

  1. Turn on and ensure tape loaded.
  2. Type text using keyboard; use SHIFT for symbols.
  3. Format: Press FONT, SIZE, FRAME to customize.
  4. Preview on LCD; edit with ARROWS and BACKSPACE.
  5. Press PRINT; after printing, use cutter lever to cut tape.

Tip: Use laminated tapes for durability in kitchens or workshops.

Advanced Features

Utilize advanced functions for professional labels.

  1. Auto-numbering: Press NUM key, set start/end, increment.
  2. Date/Time: Insert current date/time stamp.
  3. Memory: Save label by pressing MEMORY + number (1-9).
  4. Barcode: Select barcode type, enter data (if supported).
  5. Mirror printing: For application on inside of glass.
  6. Vertical text: Rotate text 90 degrees.
  7. Multiple copies: Set 1-9 copies before printing.

WARNING! Do not pull tape during printing; allow cutter to fully retract before cutting.

Tape Loading & Replacement

Replace tape when low or for different type/color.

  1. Power off device.
  2. Open tape compartment cover.
  3. Remove old cassette; insert new with tape end aligned to exit slot.
  4. Close cover firmly; power on to reset tape detection.

CAUTION! Use only Brother TZe tapes; improper tapes may jam.

Care & Maintenance

Unplug or remove batteries before cleaning. Wipe exterior with dry, soft cloth. Clean cutter blade with brush if debris accumulates.
