Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Ensure all parts are present.

  1. Insert batteries: Open battery compartment, insert 6 AA batteries observing correct polarity.
  2. Load tape cassette: Open tape compartment, insert cassette with tape end facing out, close firmly.
  3. Connect AC adapter (optional): Plug adapter into DC IN jack and then into wall outlet.
  4. Power on: Press the POWER button.

WARNING! Use only Brother TZe tape cassettes. Incorrect tape may cause jamming. Keep batteries away from children.

First-Time Setup

Power on the device; the LCD will illuminate.

  1. Set language: Press FUNCTION, then use arrow keys to select language (default: ENGLISH).
  2. Set tape width: The device auto-detects tape width; confirm on screen.
  3. Adjust contrast: Press FUNCTION + SETTINGS to adjust LCD contrast if needed.

  2. For AC adapter: Connect to DC IN 6V jack. Use only Brother-approved adapter.
  3. Auto Power Off: Device turns off after 5 minutes of inactivity to save power.

Tip: For frequent use, the AC adapter is recommended to conserve batteries.

Creating Labels

Supports text, symbols, frames, and auto-formatting.

  1. Turn on: Press POWER.
  2. Type text: Use keyboard. Use SHIFT for uppercase and secondary symbols.
  3. Format text: Press FUNCTION, select FONT, SIZE, or STYLE (Bold, Underline).
  4. Add frames/symbols: Press FUNCTION, select FRAME or SYMBOLS, choose desired option.
  5. Preview: Text appears on LCD with formatting.
  6. Print: Press PRINT. Label prints from exit slot.
  7. Cut: Use manual cutter lever to cut label. For auto-cut (certain models), press CUT after print.
  8. Peel & apply: Peel backing from label and apply to clean, dry surface.

WARNING! Do not touch the print head. Keep fingers away from cutter blade.

Advanced Functions

Auto Numbering: Press FUNCTION, select NUMBERING, set start value and increment. Memory: Store up to 9 labels; press FUNCTION, select MEMORY, choose store or recall. Mirror Printing: For creating labels for inside of glass/windows. Bar Codes: Supports basic bar code creation (certain models).

Care & Maintenance

Turn off and remove batteries before cleaning. Use a dry, soft cloth to clean exterior. Clean print head with cotton swab lightly moistened with isopropyl alcohol if print quality degrades.

CAUTION! Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Do not immerse in water. Store in a cool, dry place.
