Installation & Power

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on clean, flat surface.

  1. Connect Power: Insert the AC adapter plug into the DC IN jack on the side of the label maker, then plug the adapter into a standard 120V AC outlet.
  2. Optional Battery: Insert the optional rechargeable battery pack into the compartment on the bottom.
  3. Load Tape Cassette: Open the cassette cover, insert a Brother TZe tape cassette, and close the cover until it clicks.
  4. Power On: Press the POWER button. The LCD will illuminate.

WARNING! Use only the Brother AD-24ES adapter or approved battery. Do not use damaged tapes or cassettes.

First-Time Setup

Power on the device; the LCD will show the default text entry screen.

  1. Set Language: Press the FUNCTION key, then use the arrow keys to select "Language." Choose your preferred language (default is ENGLISH).
  2. Set Units: In the same menu, select "Units" and choose between mm or inches for tape length display.
  3. Adjust Contrast: If needed, adjust the LCD contrast in the "Settings" menu.
  4. Test Print: Type a sample word and press the PRINT key to ensure proper operation.

CAUTION! Keep fingers clear of the tape exit slot and cutter blade during operation.

Label Options: Set tape length (auto or manual), mirror printing, sequential numbering. Memory: Store/recall labels using the MEMORY key. Settings: Language, units, contrast, auto power off.

Loading Tape Cassettes

Supports Brother TZe laminated and non-laminated tapes.

  1. Power off the label maker.
  2. Press the cassette cover release button and open the cover fully.
  3. Insert the tape cassette with the tape end facing the exit slot and the Brother logo facing up. Ensure it sits flat.
  4. Close the cover firmly until it clicks into place.
  5. Power on. The device will automatically feed the tape to the correct starting position.

Tip: Always use genuine Brother TZe tapes. Using incompatible tapes may cause jams.

Creating Labels

Basic label creation process.

  1. Enter Text: Type your desired text using the keyboard.
  2. Format Text: Use FONT, SIZE, STYLE, and FRAME keys to customize appearance.
  3. Add Symbols: Press SYMBOL key, browse categories with arrow keys, press ENTER to insert.
  4. Preview: Press PREVIEW (if available) to see layout on the LCD.
  5. Set Length: Press LENGTH to choose auto (fits text) or manual length.
  6. Print: Press PRINT. The label will print and automatically feed out.
  7. Cut: Press CUT to use the built-in cutter. The cutter will trim the label.
  8. Apply: Peel off the backing and apply the label to a clean, dry surface.

WARNING! Do not pull the tape during printing or cutting. Allow the automatic feed to complete.

Advanced Features

Sequential Numbering: Create a series of numbered labels (e.g., 1, 2, 3). Access via FUNCTION > Numbering. Mirror Printing: Prints text reversed for application on the inside of glass/windows. Access via FUNCTION > Mirror. Memory Storage: Save up to 9 labels for quick recall. Use MEMORY key to store/recall.

Care & Maintenance

Unplug adapter before cleaning. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the exterior. Clean the tape exit slot and cutter blade gently with a dry cotton swab if debris accumulates.

CAUTION! Never use liquids, aerosols, or abrasive cleaners. Do not attempt to lubricate the cutter mechanism.
