Installation & Power

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on a clean, flat surface.

  1. Install Batteries: Open battery compartment on the back. Insert 6 AA batteries, observing correct polarity (+/-). Close compartment.
  2. Or Connect AC Adapter (optional): Plug the adapter into the DC IN 6V port on the side. Plug the adapter into a standard wall outlet (120V AC).
  3. Load Tape Cassette: Press the tape compartment release button to open. Insert a Brother TZe tape cassette with the tape coming from the bottom. Close the compartment firmly until it clicks.

WARNING! Use only Brother TZe tape cassettes. Using incompatible tapes may damage the printer mechanism.

First-Time Setup

Power on the labeler by pressing the POWER key.

  1. Set Language: Upon first use, you may be prompted to select a language. Use the arrow keys to navigate and press ENTER to confirm (default is ENGLISH).
  2. Set Tape Width: The labeler usually detects the tape width automatically. Verify it is correct on the LCD display.
  3. Test Print: Type a few characters and press the PRINT key to create your first label. Use the cutter lever to cut the tape.
  4. Adjust Print Darkness: If text is too light or dark, access the SETTINGS menu to adjust the print density.

CAUTION! Do not force the tape compartment or cutter lever. Keep fingers away from the cutting mechanism.

  4. Preview: Press FUNCTION, then PREVIEW to check the layout.
  5. Print: Press the PRINT key. The label will print.
  6. Cut: Once printing is complete, push the Cutter Lever forward firmly to cut the tape. For auto-cut models, this happens automatically.
  7. Apply: Peel off the backing and apply the label to a clean, dry surface.

Tip: Use the SPACE key to create gaps or separate words on your label.

Advanced Functions

  1. Numbering: Create sequential labels. Press FUNCTION > NUM. Set start, end, and increment values.
  2. Barcodes: Print standard barcodes (CODE 39). Press CODE + BARCODE key, enter data.
  3. Memory Storage: Store frequently used labels (up to 9). Type label, press FUNCTION > STORE, select a number (1-9). Recall with FUNCTION > RECALL.
  4. Vertical Text: Print text vertically. Press FUNCTION > VERTICAL before typing.
  5. Auto Power Off: The labeler turns off automatically after 5 minutes of inactivity to save batteries. Adjust in SETTINGS.

WARNING! Do not pull the tape while printing. Allow the mechanism to feed tape smoothly.

Maintenance & Care

Unplug AC adapter or remove batteries before cleaning.

  1. Exterior: Wipe with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use solvents or abrasive cleaners.
  2. Print Head: If print quality declines, clean the thermal print head with a dry cotton swab. Ensure the labeler is off and cool.
  3. Roller: Gently clean the rubber feed roller with a dry cloth if dust accumulates.
  4. Battery Care: Remove batteries if the labeler will not be used for an extended period. Use recommended battery types.

CAUTION! Never insert objects into the tape slot or cutter area. Keep away from extreme heat, cold, and humidity.
