Unpacking and Setup

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on a clean, flat surface.

  1. Insert batteries or connect AC adapter: Open battery compartment on the back; install 6 AA batteries or plug in the AC adapter.
  2. Load tape cassette: Open cassette cover; insert tape with the cutting edge facing out; close cover firmly.
  3. Power on: Slide the ON/OFF switch to the ON position. The LCD will illuminate.

WARNING! Use only Brother TZe series tape cassettes. Incorrect tape may damage the printer mechanism.

First-Time Operation

Power on the device; the LCD will display a welcome message.

  1. Select language: Press the FUNCTION key, then use the arrow keys to select your language.
  2. Set tape width: The device automatically detects tape width from the cassette.
  3. Test print: Type "TEST" and press the PRINT key to ensure proper operation.
  4. Adjust print darkness: Use the FUNCTION + DARKNESS keys to increase or decrease print density.

Loading Tape Cassettes

  3. Insert the cassette with the tape end feeding toward the cutter slot and the adhesive side down (Brother logo facing up).
  4. Close the cover firmly until it clicks.
  5. Power on. The device will recognize the tape width automatically.

Tip: Ensure the tape is not twisted or jammed inside the cassette before loading.

Creating Labels

Supports text labels with various formatting options.

  1. Enter text: Use the keyboard to type your label text. The LCD displays the text as you type.
  2. Format text: Press FONT, SIZE, or STYLE to change appearance. Use arrow keys to select options.
  3. Add frames/symbols: Press FRAME or SYMBOL to browse and insert decorative elements.
  4. Preview length: The tape length indicator shows how much tape will be used.
  5. Print: Press PRINT. The device will print and then advance the tape to the cutting position.
  6. Cut tape: Press CUT to sever the label. For auto-cutter models, this happens automatically.

WARNING! Do not pull tape manually; use the FEED button. Keep the cutter area clean.

Advanced Features

Auto-Numbering: Create sequential labels (e.g., 1, 2, 3). Mirror Printing: Prints text reversed for application on the inside of glass surfaces. Memory: Store frequently used labels in memory slots (M1, M2, etc.).

Care & Maintenance

Turn off and disconnect power before cleaning. Use a dry, soft cloth to wipe the exterior. Clean the print head with a cotton swab if print quality degrades.

CAUTION! Do not use liquids, solvents, or abrasive cleaners. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
