Unpacking and Setup

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on a clean, flat surface.

  1. Insert tape cassette: Open cassette cover, insert tape with the printed side facing up, close cover.
  2. Connect power: Plug the AC adapter into the unit and then into a wall outlet. Alternatively, install 6 AA batteries (not included).
  3. Power on: Press the POWER button. The display should light up.
  4. Load tape: The machine will automatically feed the tape to the correct starting position.

WARNING! Use only Brother TZe series tape cassettes. Incorrect tape may cause jamming.

First-Time Operation

Power on the device; follow basic steps to create your first label.

  1. Select tape width: Ensure the loaded tape matches the width setting (default auto-detected).
  2. Type text: Use the QWERTY keyboard to type your label text. It appears on the display.
  3. Format text: Use FONT, SIZE, and STYLE keys to change appearance.
  4. Print label: Press the PRINT key. The label will be printed and laminated automatically.
  5. Cut label: Press the CUT button or use the manual cutter lever to cut the label.

CAUTION! Keep fingers away from the cutter mechanism while it is operating.

  4. Press SIZE to select the character size.
  5. Press STYLE to apply Bold, Italic, or Underline.
  6. Press FRAME or SYMBOL to browse and insert decorative elements.
  7. Preview the label on the 1-line display.
  8. Press PRINT. The label prints and is fed out.
  9. Press the CUT button to cut the label from the tape.
  10. Peel off the backing and apply the label.

Tip: For long labels, use the "Length" setting in the FUNCTION menu to set a specific print length.

Advanced Functions

Utilize advanced features for specialized labels.

  1. Auto Numbering: Print sequential numbers (FUNCTION > Numbering).
  2. Text Alignment: Align text Left, Center, or Right (FUNCTION > Align).
  3. Mirror Printing: Print text reversed for application on the inside of glass or transparent surfaces (FUNCTION > Mirror).
  4. Memory Function: Save up to 9 frequently used labels (FUNCTION > Memory > Save). Recall them later (FUNCTION > Memory > Recall).
  5. Vertical Text: Not supported on PT-D200. Text prints horizontally only.

WARNING! Do not pull the tape out manually while printing; allow the mechanism to feed it.

Care & Maintenance

Unplug or remove batteries before cleaning. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the exterior.

  1. Cutter Blade: Keep clean of adhesive residue. Wipe gently with a dry cloth.
  2. Tape Path: If a tape jam occurs, refer to the troubleshooting section. Do not use sharp objects to clear jams.
  3. Print Head: Clean only with a dry cotton swab if necessary. Do not touch with fingers.
  4. Storage: Store in a cool, dry place. Remove batteries if not used for extended periods.
