Unpacking and Setup

Unpack and inspect all contents. Place on a clean, flat, stable surface.

  1. Connect the AC adapter: Plug the adapter into the DC IN jack on the side of the unit, then plug into a standard 120V AC outlet.
  2. Load the tape cassette: Open the cassette cover, insert the starter tape, and close the cover.
  3. Power on: Press the POWER key. The display will light up.
  4. Set the language: Use the FUNCTION key to access the initial setup menu if needed.

WARNING! Use only the specified Brother AC adapter. Do not place near heat sources or in direct sunlight.

Loading the Tape Cassette

Ensure the power is ON.

  1. Press the cassette cover release button and open the cover.
  2. Insert the TZe tape cassette with the tape end feeding toward the print mechanism and the Brother logo facing up.
  3. Gently push the cassette until it clicks into place.
  4. Close the cassette cover firmly until it locks.
  5. Press the FEED key to advance the tape and ensure it is loaded correctly.

CAUTION! Do not force the cassette. Use only genuine Brother TZe tape cassettes.

Basic Label Creation

Creating a simple text label.

  1. Power on the unit.
  2. Type your desired text using the keyboard.
  3. Use the FONT, SIZE, and STYLE keys to customize the appearance.
  4. Preview the text on the LCD display.
  5. Press the PRINT key. The label will print.
  6. After printing, use the manual cutter lever to cut the tape.
  7. Peel off the backing and apply the label.

Tip: Press FEED to advance tape without printing. Use BACKSPACE to correct errors.

Advanced Functions

Utilizing the P-touch PT-65's additional features.

  1. Frames: Press FRAME key to select decorative borders for your label.
  2. Symbols: Press SYMBOL key to insert pre-programmed symbols (arrows, warning signs, etc.).
  3. Auto-Format: Press FUNCTION then AUTO-FORMAT for preset layouts (file folder, cable, etc.).
  4. Memory: Store up to 9 labels. Press FUNCTION then MEMORY to save/recall.
  5. Numbering: Create sequential number labels using the NUMBERING function.
  6. Mirror Printing: Access via FUNCTION menu for printing mirrored text (e.g., for window application).

Note: Some features may be limited by the loaded tape width.

Tape and Cassette Care

Unplug the AC adapter before cleaning. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the exterior. Do not use liquids or aerosols.

For the print head and roller, use a cotton swab lightly dampened with isopropyl alcohol to gently clean any residue. Allow to dry completely before use.

CAUTION! Never touch the print head with sharp objects. Store tape cassettes in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
