Installation & Power

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on a clean, flat surface.

  1. Power Options: Connect the AC adapter to the port and plug into a wall outlet, OR install 6 AA batteries (not included) into the battery compartment.
  2. Load Tape: Open the cassette cover, insert a Brother TZe tape cassette with the tape end facing the cutter, and close the cover.
  3. Power On: Press the POWER button. The LCD will illuminate.

WARNING! Use only Brother TZe tape cassettes. Do not use damaged or third-party tapes. Ensure correct polarity when installing batteries.

First-Time Setup

Power on the device; the LCD will show a welcome message.

  1. Set Language: Use the FUNCTION key, then arrow keys to select your language (e.g., ENGLISH). Press ENTER.
  2. Set Tape Width: The machine auto-detects tape width. Confirm the setting shown on the LCD.
  3. Set Default Format: Navigate to SETUP mode (FUNCTION + SETUP). Set default font, size, and style as desired.
  4. Print Test Label: Type "TEST" and press PRINT/CUT to ensure proper operation.

CAUTION! Keep fingers clear of the cutter mechanism. Do not force the tape cassette.

Loading Tape Cassettes

Use only genuine Brother TZe tape cassettes.

  1. Turn the power OFF.
  2. Press the latch to open the cassette cover.
  3. Insert the cassette with the tape end feeding towards the cutter slot and the Brother logo facing up.
  4. Gently close the cover until it clicks.
  5. Turn power ON. The LCD will show the detected tape width and color.

Tip: Ensure the tape is not twisted or jammed inside the cassette. Do not touch the thermal print head.

Creating and Printing Labels

Supports text labels with various formatting.

  1. Enter Text: Press POWER ON. Use the keyboard to type your label text. The LCD shows the text as you type.
  2. Format Text: Use FONT, SIZE, STYLE, and FRAME keys to customize the label's appearance.
  3. Preview: The LCD displays a preview of the formatted text.
  4. Print: Press the PRINT/CUT button. The label prints and is automatically cut.
  5. Multiple Copies: Before printing, use the NUMBER key to set quantity (1-9), then press PRINT/CUT.
  6. Clear/Delete: Use BACKSPACE to delete characters, or press FUNCTION + CLEAR to erase the entire line.

WARNING! Do not pull the tape during printing. Allow the auto-cutter to complete its cycle.

Advanced Features

Serial Numbering: Create labels with sequential numbers. Access via FUNCTION + NUMBER key.
Auto-Formatting: Pre-set formats for common labels like file folders, cables, etc.
Memory Function: Store frequently used labels (up to 9) for quick recall.
Tape Saver Mode: Reduces margin space to conserve tape (accessed via SETUP).

Care & Maintenance

Unplug adapter/remove batteries before cleaning. Use a dry, soft cloth to wipe the exterior. For the print head and roller, use a cotton swab lightly dampened with isopropyl alcohol. Do not use water or harsh chemicals.

CAUTION! Never insert objects into the tape slot or cutter. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
