Installation & Setup

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on a clean, flat surface.

  1. Insert Batteries: Open battery compartment on the bottom, insert 6 AA batteries observing correct polarity.
  2. Connect AC Adapter (Optional): Plug the adapter into the DC IN jack and then into a wall outlet.
  3. Power On: Press the POWER button. The LCD should illuminate.
  4. Set Language & Units: Use the Function (Fn) key and arrow keys to set your preferred language and measurement units (mm/inch).

WARNING! Use only the recommended Brother AC adapter. Do not mix old and new batteries or different battery types.

Loading the Tape Cassette

Ensure the P-touch is powered off before loading or replacing tape.

  1. Press the cassette cover release button and open the cover.
  2. Insert a Brother TZe tape cassette into the compartment, aligning the guide marks.
  3. Feed the tape end under the tape guide and towards the exit slot.
  4. Close the cassette cover firmly until it clicks.
  5. Power on the device. The tape length indicator will reset.

CAUTION! Do not touch the print head. Use only genuine Brother TZe tape cassettes.

    • Press SIZE to change the character size.
    • Use the Arrow keys to move the cursor.
  4. To add a frame or symbol, press FRAME or Fn + SYMBOL and select from the list.
  5. Preview the label on the LCD. Adjust as needed.
  6. Press PRINT. The label prints and is automatically cut.

Tip: Press and hold PRINT to print multiple copies. The copy count is shown on the LCD.

Advanced Functions

  1. Numbering: Use Fn + NUMBER to create sequential number labels.
  2. Text Styles: Combine Bold, Italic, and Underline (Fn + STYLE).
  3. Vertical Text: Print text vertically (Fn + LAYOUT).
  4. Mirror Printing: For printing labels to be viewed from the opposite side (Fn + MIRROR).
  5. Memory Function: Store frequently used text phrases (Fn + STORE / RECALL).
  6. Tape Margin Settings: Choose between Full, Half, Chain (no cut), or Narrow margins (Fn + MARGIN).

Maintenance & Care

Unplug adapter/remove batteries before cleaning.

  1. Exterior: Wipe with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use solvents or abrasive cleaners.
  2. Print Head: Clean occasionally with a dry cotton swab to remove dust or adhesive residue.
  3. Roller: If tape jams, gently clear debris from the feed roller.
  4. Storage: Store in a cool, dry place. Remove batteries if not used for extended periods.

CAUTION! Never use water or chemical cleaners on the print mechanism. Keep tape cassettes in their original packaging until use.
