Installation & Setup

Unpack and inspect contents. Ensure all parts are present.

  1. Install Batteries: Open battery compartment, insert 6 AA batteries observing correct polarity.
  2. Connect AC Adapter (Optional): Plug adapter into DC IN 6V port and into wall outlet.
  3. Load Tape Cassette: Open cassette cover, insert tape with printed side facing out, close cover.
  4. Power On: Press the POWER button. The LCD will illuminate.

WARNING! Use only Brother recommended AC adapter. Do not mix old and new batteries.

Access functions via dedicated keys and the FUNCTION menu.

Front Panel: POWER, LETTER SIZE, FONT, FRAME, UNDERLINE/BORDER, PRINT, FEED, CUT.

Keyboard: Standard QWERTY keys, SPACE, BACK SPACE, SHIFT, CAPS, CODE (for symbols), 4-direction cursor keys.

Function Menu (FUNC): Access advanced settings: Tape Width, Auto Cut, Mirror Print, Numbering, Memory, System settings.

Loading Tape

  1. Press the PUSH button to open the cassette cover.
  2. Insert a P-touch TZE tape cassette with the printed side (liner) facing outward and the end of the tape aligned with the orange guide.
  3. Close the cassette cover firmly until it clicks.
  4. The label maker will automatically detect the tape width.

CAUTION! Do not force the cassette. Ensure it is seated correctly before closing the cover.

Creating Labels

Basic steps to create and print a label.

  1. Press POWER to turn on the unit.
  2. Type your text using the keyboard. Use SHIFT for uppercase and symbols.
  3. Use the cursor keys to move the cursor for editing.
  4. Press FONT to cycle through available font styles.
  5. Press LETTER SIZE to select small, medium, or large text.
  6. Press FRAME to add a decorative border around your text.
  7. Preview your label on the LCD display.
  8. Press PRINT to print the label. The unit will feed the tape automatically.
  9. Use the manual cutter lever to cut the tape after printing.

Tip: Use the FEED button to advance tape without printing.

Advanced Functions

Press the FUNC key to access advanced features.

Care & Maintenance

Unplug AC adapter and remove batteries before cleaning.

  1. Exterior: Wipe with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use solvents or abrasive cleaners.
  2. Cutter Blade: Keep free of adhesive residue. Clean carefully with a cotton swab if necessary.
  3. Print Head: Use a dry cotton swab to gently clean the thermal print head if print quality degrades.
  4. Storage: Store in a cool, dry place. Remove batteries if not used for extended periods.
