Getting Started

Power on the label maker and prepare for first use.

  1. Install batteries: Open battery compartment, insert 6 AA batteries observing polarity.

Loading the Tape Cassette

  1. Turn power OFF.
  2. Press the cover release button and open the cassette cover.
  3. Insert the tape cassette with the tape window facing upward and the Brother logo facing forward.
  4. Gently push the cassette until it clicks into place.
  5. Close the cover firmly until it locks.
  6. Turn power ON. The tape indicator should show the loaded width.

Tip: Always use genuine Brother TZe tape. Non-genuine tape may jam or cause poor print quality.

Creating Labels

Basic steps to create and print a label.

  1. Press POWER to turn on.
  2. Type your text using the keyboard. Use Backspace to correct.
  3. Format text: Press FUNCTION, then select FONT, SIZE, or STYLE.
  4. Add frames/symbols: Press FUNCTION, choose FRAME or SYMBOL.
  5. Preview: Text appears on the LCD as you type.
  6. Print: Press PRINT. The label will print and automatically cut.
  7. To feed more tape without printing, press FEED.
  8. To manually cut, press CUT after printing.

WARNING! Do not pull the tape during printing. Keep fingers away from the cutter area.

Advanced Functions

Auto Numbering: Press FUNCTION, select NUM, choose format (e.g., 1,2,3 or A,B,C), set start and end values. Mirror Printing: Press FUNCTION, select MIRROR to print reversed text. Memory: Store up to 9 labels; press FUNCTION, select MEMO, choose store or recall. Chain Printing: Print multiple copies by holding PRINT and entering quantity.

Care & Maintenance

Turn off and remove batteries before cleaning. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe exterior. Never use liquids or abrasive cleaners.
