Getting Started

Power on the label maker and prepare for first use.

  1. Install batteries: Open battery compartment, insert 6 AA batteries observing polarity.
  2. Load tape: Open cassette cover, insert tape cassette with window facing up, close cover.
  3. Power on: Slide POWER switch to ON. LCD will illuminate.
  4. Set language: Press FUNCTION, then LANGUAGE to select English (default).
  5. Type a test label: Use keyboard to type, then press PRINT.

CAUTION! Use only Brother TZe tape cassettes. Do not force cassette.

Loading the Tape Cassette

Use only genuine Brother TZe tape cassettes.

  1. Power off the unit.
  2. Open the cassette cover by pressing the release button.
  3. Insert cassette with transparent window facing up and arrow pointing toward tape exit.
  4. Close cover firmly until it clicks.
  5. Power on. The LCD will show tape width automatically.

Tip: If "NO TAPE" appears, ensure cassette is fully inserted and cover is closed.

Creating Labels

Basic steps to create and print a label.

  1. Type text: Use keyboard. Press SPACE for spaces, BACKSPACE to delete.
  2. Format text: Press FONT or SIZE to change appearance.
  3. Add frame: Press FRAME, use arrows to select, press ENTER.
  4. Preview: Text appears on LCD as you type.
  5. Print: Press PRINT lever fully down and release. Label prints and cuts automatically.
  6. Peel: Peel backing from printed label and apply to surface.

WARNING! Do not pull tape during printing. Keep fingers away from cutter.

Advanced Functions

Symbols: Press SYMBOL, use arrows to select, press ENTER to insert. Multiple Lines: Use down arrow to move to next line (within tape width limit). Tape Width Setting: In FUNCTION menu, set manually if not detected. Demo Print: Prints sample label showing features. Reset: Returns all settings to default (does not erase text).

Care & Maintenance

Use soft, dry cloth to clean exterior. Do not use liquids or aerosols.

CAUTION! Keep tape cassettes away from dust, heat, and moisture. Replace batteries if weak to prevent poor print quality.
