Installation & Power

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on a clean, flat surface.

  1. Power Options: Connect the AC adapter to the DC IN jack and a wall outlet. For portable use, insert 6 AA batteries (not included) into the battery compartment.
  2. Load Tape: Open the cassette cover, insert a Brother TZe tape cassette (e.g., 3.5mm, 6mm, 9mm, 12mm), and close the cover firmly.
  3. Power On: Press the POWER button. The LCD will illuminate.

WARNING! Use only the specified Brother AC adapter. Do not mix old and new batteries or different battery types.

First-Time Setup

Power on the label maker; follow on-screen prompts on the LCD.

  1. Set Language: Press the FUNCTION key, then use the arrow keys to select LANGUAGE. Choose your preferred language (e.g., ENGLISH).
  2. Set Tape Width: The machine usually auto-detects the loaded tape width. Confirm the setting matches your cassette.
  3. Set Default Format: Use the FONT, SIZE, and STYLE keys to set your preferred default text appearance.
  4. Test Print: Type a few characters and press PRINT to ensure proper operation.

CAUTION! Ensure the tape cassette is correctly seated to avoid jams.

Controls and Functions

Access functions via dedicated keys or the FUNCTION menu on the LCD.

Front Panel Keys: POWER, LETTER (case), FONT, SIZE, STYLE (bold, underline, outline, frame), LEFT/RIGHT ARROW, DELETE, SPACE, PRINT, CUT (manual feed).

Function Menu (FUNCTION key): Language, Auto Numbering, Mirror Print, Length (set tape length), Memory (store/recall), Symbols, Preview, Settings (buzzer, auto power-off).

Formatting: Adjust font type, size (small, medium, large), and style before or after typing text. Apply decorative frames from the library.

Loading Tape Cassettes

Only use genuine Brother TZe tape cassettes.

  1. Press the CASSETTE COVER release button and open the cover.
  2. Insert the tape cassette with the tape end feeding towards the cutter slot and the Brother logo facing up.
  3. Gently press the cassette down until it clicks into place.
  4. Close the cassette cover firmly until it locks.
  5. Power on. The LCD should show the correct tape width and color.

Tip: Always turn the power OFF before opening the cassette cover.

Creating Labels

Supports text, symbols, and sequential numbering.

  1. Enter Text: Use the keyboard to type your label text. Use the arrow keys to move the cursor for editing.
  2. Format Text: Press FONT, SIZE, or STYLE keys to change appearance. Select a frame from the FUNCTION > FRAME menu if desired.
  3. Add Symbols: Press FUNCTION, select SYMBOLS, and browse categories using arrow keys. Press ENTER to insert.
  4. Preview: Press FUNCTION then PREVIEW to see the label layout on the LCD.
  5. Print: Press the PRINT key. The label will be printed and fed out automatically.
  6. Cut: After printing, use the manual CUT lever to sever the tape. For auto-cut (feed), hold down the PRINT key for 2 seconds before releasing.

WARNING! Do not pull the tape while printing. Keep fingers away from the cutter lever during operation.

Advanced Functions

Auto Numbering: FUNCTION > AUTO NUMBER. Set start value, end value, and increment. Useful for numbering items sequentially.

Mirror Printing: FUNCTION > MIRROR. Prints text reversed for application on the inside of glass or transparent surfaces.

Memory: Store up to 10 labels. Type label, press FUNCTION > MEMORY > STORE, select a number (M1-M10). Recall by selecting MEMORY > RECALL.

Fixed Length: FUNCTION > LENGTH. Set a specific tape length; printing will stop automatically at that length.

Care & Maintenance

Unplug AC adapter or remove batteries before cleaning. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the exterior. Do not use liquids or aerosols.

Cutter Blade Care: If the cut becomes ragged, a small piece of adhesive may be on the blade. Use a cotton swab lightly dampened with isopropyl alcohol to gently clean the blade edge.

Tape Jam: If tape jams, turn power OFF, open cassette cover, and gently remove the stuck tape. Do not use sharp objects.

CAUTION! Never immerse the unit in water. Avoid extreme temperatures and direct sunlight.
