Unpacking and Setup

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on clean, flat surface.

  1. Install power source: Insert AC adapter into port, or install 6 AA batteries into compartment.
  2. Load tape cartridge: Open cartridge cover, insert tape with window facing up, close cover.
  3. Power on: Slide POWER switch to ON position.
  4. Initialize: Device will perform self-test; "Ready" appears on LCD.

WARNING! Keep small parts away from children. Use only Brother TZ tape cartridges.

First-Time Operation

Power on device; follow on-screen prompts.

  1. Set language: Press FUNCTION, then LANGUAGE to select ENGLISH (default).

Creating Labels

Basic label creation steps.

  1. Turn on device; ensure tape loaded.

  3. Format text: Press F + FONT/SIZE/STYLE to adjust.
  4. Add frame/symbol: Press F + FRAME or SYMBOL.
  5. Print: Press PRINT; label prints and auto-cuts (if enabled).
  6. Manual cut: Pull cutter lever if auto-cut is off.

Tip: Use clear tape for glossy surfaces, white tape for dark surfaces.

Advanced Functions

Memory: Store up to 9 labels; recall with F + MEMORY.

  1. Store label: Create text, press F then STORE, select memory number.
  2. Recall label: Press F then RECALL, select number.
  3. Delete memory: Press F + CLEAR while in memory mode.
  4. Serial numbering: Create labels with sequential numbers (e.g., 001, 002).
  5. Mirror printing: For application to inside of glass/windows.
  6. Multiple copies: Set 1-9 copies before printing.

WARNING! Do not remove tape cartridge during printing.

Tape and Cartridge Handling

Supports Brother TZ laminated tape cartridges.

  1. Insert cartridge: Ensure correct orientation (window up).
  2. Remove cartridge: Open cover, gently pull out.
