Unpacking and Setup

Unpack and inspect all contents. Place on a clean, flat surface.

  1. Power the unit: Insert 6 AA batteries (not included) into the battery compartment OR connect the included AC adapter to the port and a wall outlet.
  2. Load a tape cassette: Open the cassette cover, insert a Brother TZe tape cassette with the tape feeding towards the cutter, and close the cover firmly.
  3. Turn on the power: Slide the POWER switch to the ON position. The LCD will illuminate.

WARNING! Use only Brother TZe tape cassettes. Do not force the cassette or cutter lever. Keep small parts away from children.

First-Time Operation

Power on the label maker; the LCD will show a welcome message or a blank label template.

  1. Type text: Use the QWERTY keyboard to type your label text. It appears on the LCD.
  2. Format text: Use the FONT, SIZE, and STYLE keys to change the appearance of your text.
  3. Add frames: Press the FRAME key to browse and select decorative borders for your label.
  4. Print the label: Press the PRINT key. The label will be printed and advanced automatically.
  5. Cut the tape: Use the manual cutter lever to cut the tape cleanly at the desired point.

CAUTION! Keep fingers clear of the cutter lever when operating. Do not pull the tape manually.

Loading Tape Cassettes

Only use genuine Brother TZe tape cassettes.

  1. Ensure the power is OFF.
  2. Press the button to open the cassette cover.
  3. Insert the cassette so the tape end feeds from the bottom of the cassette towards the cutter slot. The cassette should click into place.
  4. Close the cover firmly until it clicks.
  5. Turn power ON. The tape indicator on the LCD should correspond to the loaded tape width/color.

Tip: For best results, use a cassette with at least 50mm of tape remaining. Do not use damaged or non-Brother cassettes.

Creating Labels

Supports text, symbols, numbers, and decorative frames.

  1. Type: Begin typing on the keyboard. Use SHIFT for capital letters and secondary symbols.
  2. Edit: Use the arrow keys to move the cursor. Use CLEAR to delete characters.
  3. Format: Press FONT, SIZE, or STYLE to change text appearance. The LCD updates in real-time.
  4. Add Elements: Press FRAME or SYMBOL to insert decorative elements.
  5. Preview: The LCD shows a representation of the final label.
  6. Print: Press PRINT. The label prints and feeds out.
  7. Cut: Firmly press down the cutter lever to cut the tape. Peel off the backing to apply the label.

WARNING! Never insert fingers or objects into the tape exit slot or cutter mechanism.

Advanced Functions

Sequential Numbering: Create a series of numbered labels via the FUNCTION menu. Length Limiter: Set a maximum label length to conserve tape. Memory Function: Store frequently used label formats for quick recall.

Care & Maintenance

Unplug AC adapter or remove batteries before cleaning. Wipe exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Clean the cutter blade gently with a cotton swab if adhesive residue builds up.
