Installation & Power

Unpack and inspect contents. Ensure all parts are present.

  1. Insert Batteries: Open battery compartment on back, insert 6 AA batteries observing correct polarity.
  2. Optional AC Adapter: Plug the AD-24 adapter into the DC IN jack on the side of the unit.
  3. Load Tape Cassette: Open cassette cover, insert tape cassette with tape feeding towards the cutter slot, close cover.
  4. Power On: Press the POWER button. The LCD will illuminate.

WARNING! Use only specified Brother AC adapter. Do not mix old and new batteries. Ensure tape cassette is correctly seated.

First-Time Setup

Power on the label maker; follow initial prompts on LCD.

Loading Tape Cassettes

  2. Open Cover: Slide the cassette cover release and open the cover fully.
  3. Insert Cassette: Place cassette into compartment with Brother logo facing up and tape end feeding towards the exit slot (right side).
  4. Close Cover: Press cover down until it clicks securely.
  5. Power On: The unit will recognize the tape width and type.

Tip: Always use genuine Brother TZe tapes for optimal print quality and to avoid jams.

Creating Labels

Create basic text labels, formatted labels, and sequential labels.

  1. Enter Text: Use keyboard to type desired label text. Use SPACE, BACKSPACE.
  2. Format Text: Press FONT, SIZE, or STYLE keys to modify appearance. Preview on LCD.
  3. Add Frame: Press FRAME to select a border or decorative element.
  4. Print: Press PRINT. The label will be printed and fed out.
  5. Cut: For manual cut, pull the CUT lever towards you after printing. For auto-cut (if set), it cuts automatically.
  6. Peel & Apply: Peel the backing paper from the printed label and apply to surface.

WARNING! Do not pull tape out manually; use the cutter lever. Keep adhesive side clean.

Advanced Functions

Sequential Numbering: Create a series of numbered labels (e.g., 1, 2, 3). Time/Date Stamp: Insert current time or date into label. Memory: Store frequently used labels in memory for quick recall. Mirror Printing: For printing labels to be viewed from the opposite side (e.g., inside of glass).

Care & Maintenance

Power off and remove batteries for extended storage. Clean exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquids or aerosols. Clean print head only with a dry cotton swab if necessary.

CAUTION! Do not touch the print head with fingers. Store tapes in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
