Installation & Power

Unpack and inspect contents. Ensure all parts are present.

  1. Install batteries: Open battery compartment on back, insert 6 AA batteries observing correct polarity (+/-).
  2. Connect AC adapter (optional): Plug adapter into DC IN 6V port on side, then into wall outlet.
  3. Load tape cartridge: Open cartridge cover, insert tape with printed side facing out, close cover.
  4. Power on: Press the ON key. The display will illuminate.

WARNING! Use only Brother TZe tape cartridges. Do not force cartridge. Keep batteries away from children.

First-Time Setup

Power on the label maker; follow basic steps.

  1. Set language: Press FUNCTION, then LANGUAGE to select English (default).
  2. Set tape width: Machine auto-detects width from cartridge.
  3. Test print: Type "TEST" and press PRINT to ensure proper operation.
  4. Adjust print darkness: Press FUNCTION, then DARKNESS to select Light, Normal, or Dark.

CAUTION! Do not look into the print mechanism while printing. Keep fingers clear of cutter.

Loading Tape Cartridges

Only use Brother TZe tape cartridges.

  1. Power off the label maker.
  2. Open the tape compartment cover by sliding the latch.
  3. Insert cartridge with tape end feeding toward print mechanism and printed side facing outward.
  4. Close cover firmly until it clicks.
  5. Power on; the display will show tape width.

Tip: Ensure tape path is clear and not twisted. Do not touch the thermal print head.

Creating Labels

Basic label creation steps.

  1. Enter text: Type using keyboard. Use SPACE, DEL for editing.
  2. Format text: Press FONT to change font style; press SIZE to change size.
  3. Add frames/symbols: Press FRAME to select border; press SYMBOL to insert symbol.
  4. Preview: Display shows label; tape length indicator appears.
  5. Print: Press PRINT. Label prints and feeds out automatically.
  6. Cut: Press CUT lever to cut tape. For auto-cut, hold PRINT for 2 seconds.

WARNING! Do not pull tape during printing. Allow cutter to complete cut before removing label.

Advanced Functions

Auto Numbering: Press AUTO, enter start number and quantity, press PRINT to generate sequence. Memory Store: Type label, press FUNCTION then MEMORY STORE to save (up to 9 labels). Memory Recall: Press FUNCTION then MEMORY RECALL to insert saved text. Clear All: Press FUNCTION then CLEAR ALL to erase current text.

Care & Maintenance

Power off and remove batteries for long storage. Clean exterior with dry, soft cloth. For print head, use clean cotton swab lightly if dirty.

CAUTION! Do not use liquids, aerosols, or abrasive cleaners. Store in cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
